If you accept all the praise, you have to accept all the critics.

Not everyone wants to read self help books, attend seminars or work with a sports coach. If that sounds familiar, then this blog is for you!

As chief blogger what are my credentials?
I currently write on over 21 blogs; some are mine and some belong to others! So why do I blog so much?
I love trying to simplify complex topics plus writing helps me relax and learn about myself.
I get much of my inspiration from every day conversations with horse folk plus some unexpected places such as my music lessons! To find out more you’ll have to tune in!
Where do you spend your mental Energy?
Most of us make a living working in offices which consumes 90% of our daily mental energy, leaving us with not much to spare for riding!
Riding (to be conservative) is probably a 50:50 split of mental and physical energy, with many riders believing it to be largely physical – until we encounter problems!
If riding is at least 50% mental, then knowing how to use that mental energy wisely for improved riding and horsemanship will help conserve energy for other activities such as earning our horse’s keep!
It’s good to know who to save our mental brain boxes from exhaustion! Here is a simple lesson taken from Inventors!
With most inventions (except those discovered by accident such as Penicilin) not much gets done without first imagining “it”, then actually doing or creating “it”, and finally improving it or rolling it out for mankind to never be the same again (think IPhone, IPad).
In summary there are 3 steps – step 1) Imagine – step 2) Create – step 3) Innovate.
(This is how the polaroid camera was invented when a father’s daughter asked “why can’t we see the photo now daddy?” He began to imagine what it would require).
When you ride or spend time with your horse next time:-
- What is it that you want to imagine achieving, doing or un-doing?
- What do you want to create ( suppleness, rhythm, a better ‘connection)? How will you go about creating that in a way that is different from what you have been doing?
- How can you change your perspective about what you do together for your mutual and long term benefit?
Regular blog followers will know I am a big fan of things that come in 3’s including:-
3 wishes, 3 cheers, 3 wise men, 3 musketeers, 3 little pigs, 3 Bronte sisters…
So in summary, when it comes to being a better you, and using your mental energy wisely, follow the innventors rule of 3 whenever you can.
Whether you like setting new resolutions or not; is up to you! If you stick to them or not; is up to you! No point kicking yourself if you don’t set any, nor beating yourself up if you can’t stick at it! Bottom line is … only set yourself resolutions if you WANT to set…Details
