Do you want to improve your riding the easy way? You can make immediate improvements from the comfort of you home, office, horsebox or stable. All you will need is a note pad, pen and permission to be open minded. It costs you nothing.
Everything you read in this blog, and in this post is worth NOTHING and will make NO difference to your riding unless you DO SOMETHING with it. This means you need to actually do the exercises I offer and repeat them if that is the advice. If I say “write something down” I do mean WRITE IT DOWN. If I ask you to “DISCUSS” with a friend – you must discuss it. That’s it – no tricks or gimmicks; if you DO as I offer you will see the benefits.
Below is the first step on a journey you will not regret.
1. Taking a pen and paper please write down your 3 best sporting moments. (These can be yours or those of a professional rider. They may be equestrian related or not).
2. Now share them with a friend or family member. Go into as much detail as you wish – bring each to life for them.
3. Pause! Write down how you felt as you described these sporting moments.
What is the learning?
How you felt when you walked these experiences through will show you how much riding means to you. It will show you the strength of feeling you had re-living them. It will show you and remind you what you have achieved, or what others have achieved that probably inspire you on-wards.
Why is this important?
We are easily too critical of ourselves and our abilities. We forget what we have achieved. We focus on the negative results and missed positive outcomes instead.
AN IMPORTANT TRUTH: The more we focus on the good stuff in our riding the more we can build on it and deliver more of it!
Be assured, with this one simple exercise you have began an important first step in improving your riding! Re-read over your 3 best sporting moments frequently to keep it firmly in your mind.
